Guide to Captaining a Public Park Team

Creating a Team at a Public Park Facility

  • Registration fee for players playing out of public park tennis facilities: $39.36 (includes public court use fee)
  • Click here to create your team on TennisLink
    • From the drop-down menu choose: Southern Section/North Carolina District/Metro Area/choose your league/choose your level
    • Sub-Flight: choose the “Public Teams” sub-flight for your level
    • Choose the facility you would like for your home matches (Colonel Beatty, Jeff Adams Tennis Center, Park Road Park and Queens Sports Complex are subject to availability). If a facility is filled the local league coordinator will contact the captain within 48 hours with alternative options.
  • Be sure to opt in to receive communications from the Local League Coordinator pertaining to the League

Important to Note:
The public park fee is included in the registration fee when players register on the team up until the team registration deadline. Public park players will use their team number assigned by captains at the time they created their team in TennisLink.

Due to limitations in TennisLink, after the team registration deadline, the public park court fee will not be included when players register directly on a team. As a work-around, after the team registration deadline, players on public park teams will need to register using generic team numbers so the public park fee is included with the registration fee. The Local League Coordinator will send a reminder email to public park captains about the process.

  • 18 & Over; TBD
  • 40 & Over; TBD
  • 55 & Over; TBD
  • 65 & Over; TBD

Once players on public park teams have registered using the Public Park Late Registrations team number, they must send an email to the Local League Coordinator to provide the following information to be transferred to the appropriate team: Player Name, Captain’s Name, Age Group, NTRP Level, Days of Play and Team Number.

Players registering for public park teams after the team registration deadline who do not follow the procedure to pay public facility use fees online via the generic teams will be notified with instructions to pay $17.15 online (this amount includes an additional handling and processing fee) within 7 days. Please note that any matches played after the public facility use fee payment deadline will be defaulted.

Public Park Schedules and Court Assignments

  • The Local League Coordinator collaborates with the Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation (MCPR) department to finalize schedules and assign courts for public park home matches
  • A link to the court assignments document will be emailed to public park captains after schedules are published and will also be posted on the USTA League Program Resources page of the website
  • The court assignment document should be bookmarked online or printed as additional proof of reservations

Requesting a Court(s) for a Rained-Out Match

  • Fill out the Rain Make-Up Request Form for Public Park Team Captains that is posted on the USTA League Program Resources page of the website.
  • Please allow for at least 48 hours (Mon-Fri) notice for court requests. The Local League Coordinator will submit the request to MCPR, who will assign the courts. A court assignment form will be emailed to the captain or player(s). Players should keep the document as proof of reservation.
